Axe throwing is a thrilling activity, but safety always comes first. We follow strict guidelines to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Here are some key safety tips to keep in mind.
Follow the Axe Coach’s Instructions
Our trained coaches are there to make sure you throw safely and have a great time. Whether you’re a first-timer or seasoned pro, always listen to your coach’s instructions, from stance and technique to retrieving the axe.
2. Wear Closed-Toe Shoes
Protect your feet by wearing closed-toe shoes during your session. This rule helps prevent any injuries in case an axe gets dropped. We don't need to catch our axe if it starts falling, it's metal and won't break on impact.
3. Two Throwers, Two Lanes
We have designated lanes for simultaneous throwing. Two people can throw at the same time, but it’s important to stay in your space! Wait until both players have thrown before retrieving the axes.
4. Careful Axe Retrieval – The Right Way
When retrieving your axe, avoid pulling it straight out. Instead, rock the axe back and forth to loosen it from the target. This ensures the axe doesn’t suddenly release and swing, potentially causing an injury.
5. Watch Your Surroundings
It’s important to always be aware of others around you. Even if you’re focused on your own throw, make sure to keep a safe distance from other players. Never walk into someone else’s lane during their turn.
6. Respect the Axe
Remember that an axe is a sharp tool, not a toy. Avoid any reckless behavior, such as throwing in an unsafe manner or engaging in horseplay. Your coach is there to ensure everyone remains safe, so follow their guidelines closely.
7. Proper Throwing Techniques
Throwing an axe is about accuracy, not just power. Your coach will show you how to stand, grip the axe, and release it for maximum control. A controlled throw is key to hitting the target and staying safe.
8. Stay Safe with Alcohol
While some venues may allow alcohol in designated areas, it’s crucial to manage consumption responsibly. Overindulging is prohibited for throwers, and our staff will monitor for safety. The goal is to have fun and stay safe.
10. Enjoy Responsibly!
Safety and fun go hand in hand. By following these tips, you’ll have an awesome and secure experience axe throwing anywhere!
